The inspiration behind the opening night design was the “Pehran-e-Tumban with a western touch. The overlay additional pattern that is attached to the garment creates a flying kite fluidity effect. The accessory cross effect design is an implementation of kites in the air with an Afghan cultural embellishment finish. The entire look is distinctly warrior-esque and portrays the strength of the Afghan people. Most importantly it is a unique representation of our Afghan roots which is what we wanted to showcase on the red carpet. Thank you Salar Nader and the Kite Runner on Broadway for allowing me to design for such a momentous event.
